Deploying Windows Deployment Server (WDS)
For Operating System Deployment through SCCM, WDS server role is required to install PXE service point.
The below steps can be followed to install WDS :
1. Go to Server Manager>>Select Roles>>> Click on " Add roles">>> select " Windows Deployment Server". Click Next.
2. Select both the options. Click Next
- Deployment Server- for full functionality of WDS
- Transport Server- Used for multicast and a subset of Deployment server.
3. On the next screen, click on "install" to start the WDS installation.After the successful installation of WDS, click close to finish the wizard.
4. This will create a service named " Windows Deployment Services Server" on the machine where it is installed. It should be started and "Automatic" for the PXE Service point site system role to function.
